The Wofford men’s tennis team ended its regular season with a 7-0 victory over King University at the Reeves Tennis Center, according to an April 13 announcement. The Terriers won all three doubles matches and swept all six singles matches in their final home contest.
This win marks the close of the regular season for Wofford and highlights their preparation ahead of postseason play. Senior Ian Rasheed was recognized before the match for his contributions as he played his last home game.
In doubles action, Owen Dooley and Ian Rasheed secured a 6-1 win at the #3 spot. Hugo Rask and Parker Mariencheck came from behind to clinch a 6-4 victory at #2 doubles, securing the overall point. At #1 doubles, Jack Deveney and Valdemar Dubin faced a comeback from King but ultimately won in a tiebreaker, 7-2.
During singles play, Wofford took every first set across all six matches. Daniel Clivo won decisively at #4 singles (6-1, 6-2), followed by Jack Burdell’s win at #5 (6-2, 6-0). Rasheed clinched the overall match with his own straight-set victory on Senior Day (6-2, 6-2). Additional wins came from Rask (#2), Deveney (#3), and Mariencheck (#1), who closed out the sweep after winning a three-set battle.
“I’m pleased with our execution, effort, and mindset,” said head coach Rod Ray. “There’s no question we got stronger today.”
Looking ahead, Wofford (7-11 overall; 1-6 conference) will begin competition in the Southern Conference Championship on Thursday against second-seeded Samford. King University finishes its season with an overall record of 7-15.
