The Wofford College baseball team secured a series win against Belmont after splitting a doubleheader on Sunday at E.S. Rose Park in Nashville. The Terriers lost the first game 3-2 but responded with an 11-1 victory in the second matchup. The doubleheader was scheduled after Saturday’s game was postponed due to weather, resulting in two seven-inning games.

In the opening game, Alec Bouchard started for Wofford and pitched 5.1 innings, allowing four hits and three runs while striking out seven batters. Hiram Lewis came in as relief for 0.2 innings. Wofford took an early lead when Cade Collins scored following a single by Niko Brini and a throwing error from Belmont. Hunter Herndon added another run with a sacrifice fly, giving the Terriers a 2-0 advantage. However, Belmont responded with solo home runs in the fifth and sixth innings to claim a 3-2 win.

Freshman PJ Fitzpatrick made his first collegiate start on the mound for Wofford in the second game, pitching two innings and giving up two hits while striking out one batter. Branton Little provided five innings of relief, allowing four hits and one run with three strikeouts.

Ben Timblin led Wofford’s offense in the second game with three runs, three hits, and five RBIs. Niko Brini contributed three runs, three hits, and two RBIs. Timblin hit a home run to center field to open scoring for the Terriers and later grounded out to bring Brini home as part of a four-run start for Wofford. Hunter Herndon added an RBI single to extend the lead to 5-0.

Belmont managed only one run on a solo homer in the third inning. Wofford added another run in the fifth before closing out the game with five runs in the seventh inning, including back-to-back doubles from Brini and Collins.

Wofford finished the second game with 11 runs on 11 hits and matched their season low by striking out only twice at bat. Timblin also recorded three stolen bases during the game, bringing his season total to nine—the most on the team so far this year.

After these games, Andrew Mannelly, Cade Collins, and Ben Timblin each have two home runs this season. Collins extended his streak of reaching base safely to 15 consecutive games.

The Terriers are set to return home for a matchup against USC Upstate at Fifth Third Park on Tuesday, March 10 at 6 p.m., which will be streamed live on ESPN+.
