USC Upstate women’s basketball will host Presbyterian College on Wednesday evening at the G.B. Hodge Center in Spartanburg, South Carolina. The game is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
USC Upstate enters the matchup with a record of 5-13 overall and 0-4 in Big South Conference play, while Presbyterian holds a 2-14 overall record and is 0-3 in conference games. Presbyterian currently leads the all-time series between the two teams, 11-8. In their last five meetings, Presbyterian has won three times, including both matchups during the previous season.
Freshman guard Kinley Paterson of USC Upstate recently earned her first career Big South Conference Freshman of the Week honor after averaging 6.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 2.5 steals per game while shooting over 46 percent from the field. In January, Paterson has increased her averages to 7 points, 4.3 rebounds, and nearly four assists per game with a field goal percentage above 52 percent. Against Winthrop on January 7, she scored ten points along with five assists and four rebounds.
For Presbyterian, senior guard Ja’Cia Cunningham leads her team in scoring with an average of just over nine points per game this season. She recorded a recent double-digit performance with thirteen points against High Point on January 7.
After Wednesday’s contest and their first bye week of the conference schedule, USC Upstate will return to action against UNC Asheville on February 21 for the Ingles I-26 Rivalry Series.
