USC Upstate men’s golf team is set to participate in the Wofford Invitational, which will take place from Sunday through Tuesday, according to an April 11 announcement.
The tournament marks the Spartans’ final regular season event before the Big South Championship. Several other Big South teams, including Longwood, High Point, Radford, and Winthrop, are also scheduled to compete.
Jaskaran Sohal recently finished in the top-30 at the Golfweek/Stifel Spring Challenge with a score of 219 after shooting rounds of 69 and 71. Sohal recorded 11 birdies during that tournament. Alec Prentice also posted a strong performance with a third-round score of 69 at Pawleys Island.
The Spartan lineup for this event includes Alec Prentice, Jaskaran Sohal, Jackson Stone, Caden Sanders, Herman Holst, Cameron Biddle (individual), Nate Heller (individual), Phuthanate Kangwol (individual), and Ross Wright (individual). Other teams participating are USC Aiken (#19 NCAA Division II), Western Carolina, Francis Marion, Mercer, University of South Florida (#49), Samford, Wofford (host), and Providence.
The competition will be held at The Country Club of Spartanburg. Founded in 1908 and designed by Donald Ross, the course is a par-72 layout measuring 6,434 yards.
Looking ahead after this invitational tournament, USC Upstate will travel to Fripp Island for the Big South Championship scheduled for April 26-29.
