Wofford College has promoted Taylor Liguori to associate head coach of its women’s softball team, the program announced. Liguori, who joined Wofford in 2023, is entering her third year with the Terriers.
Head coach Chelsea Butler commented on the promotion, stating, “Having the opportunity to promote Taylor to associate head coach is so special for me and for this program. Taylor has been instrumental in our growth and success on and off the field during our first two seasons of competition. She continues to better herself and our softball program every single day. Taylor is loved and respected by our players, and she will undoubtedly have a lasting impact on Wofford Softball for years to come. Taylor is someone every head coach wants by their side in the dugout and is more than deserving of this promotion!”
In the most recent season, Liguori contributed to a record-setting performance as Wofford finished with a 30-22 overall record—the best in program history—and went 11-8 in Southern Conference play. The team secured the No. 4 seed in the conference tournament. Under her guidance, Margaret Axelson and Hope Ingle were named to the All-SoCon First Team while Abby Greenwood earned Second Team honors; Brianna Stanley, Rivers Sampson, and Natalya Salo were selected for the SoCon All-Freshman Team.
During her first year at Wofford, Liguori helped lead the team through its inaugural season, finishing with an 11-10 conference record. The Terriers won a game in the SoCon Tournament after entering as a No. 5 seed. That season saw Margaret Axelson earn All-SoCon First Team recognition while Abby Greenwood, Kaytlin Greenwood, and Megan Towery made the SoCon All-Freshman Team.
Before joining Wofford, Liguori was an assistant coach with the Birmingham Thunderbolts for two years where she helped secure a national championship at the 2022 18U PGF National Championship and received recognition as part of the NFCA Coaching Staff of the Year.
Liguori played collegiate softball at Maryland where she appeared in 136 games over four seasons with notable achievements both athletically—with a .327 on-base percentage and .967 fielding percentage—and academically as a two-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and three-time Big Ten Scholar-Athlete.
The Terriers are set to open their next season at home against Kent State on February 6 during the third annual Terrier Invite after achieving a program-record number of wins last year.
