Applications for the Spring 2023 Spartanburg County Citizens' Academy are now being accepted.

Applications must be received by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 15, 2022.

Spartanburg County’s Citizens’ Academy is a learning forum intended to provide participants with insight on how county government works, open lines of communication between citizens and county staff, provide information on how citizens can easily utilize county government service, and provide a realistic understanding of county government operations.

Each week focuses on a different area of county government such as Planning and LandUse, Public Infrastructure, Public Safety and the Judicial System, and Operating LocalGovernment. One week focuses on Quality of Life and includes other area fundingorganizations. Several classes involve tours of facilities and operations.

Applications can be picked up at the Spartanburg County Community DevelopmentDepartment (9039 Fairforest Road) or the Spartanburg County Administration Building (366 North Church Street, Suite 1000).

Weekly sessions will occur on Tuesdays, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., between March 21st and May 9th.

Graduation will be held on Monday, May 15th, duringCounty Council’s monthly meeting.

In order to be qualified for the class you must be at least 18 years old, a Spartanburg County resident, and willing to commit to onenight a week for eight weeks.
