MASTERING CRUCIAL CONVERSATIONS
Could a conversation (or avoiding one) be keeping you from getting the results you need? Whatever the issue—poor productivity, declining quality, lack of teamwork, etc.---having the needed crucial conversation can be very difficult. A crucial conversation is a discussion between two or more people where stakes are high, opinions vary, and emotions run strong. This class, based—in part—on the book, “Crucial Conversations: Tools for Talking When Stakes Are High,” (authors: Kerry Patterson, Joseph Grenny, Ron McMillan, and Al Switzler) introduces a set of actions that you can take that will allow you to achieve your personal and professional goals.
TOPICS THAT WILL BE COVERED INCLUDE:
- Speaking persuasively without becoming abrasive
- Handling someone’s anger without losing focus or control
- Using a crucial conversation to turn a roadblock into results
- Creating safe space to encourage all voices
GOALS FOR THIS CLASS INCLUDE HELPING LEADERS:
- Improve results through conducting crucial conversation
- Develop teams that can work through crucial conversations without management stepping in to solve the problem
- Create an environment of trust, alignment and purpose that unleashes a team’s ability to meet and exceed expectations
- Build acceptance rather than resistance – give and receive feedback in a way that enhances relationships and improves results
- Speak persuasively, not abrasively; effectively talk about high stake emotional and controversial topics
