2

Spartanburg County issued the following announcement on March 10.

Spartanburg County is partnering with the South Carolina Association of Governmental Purchasing Officials (Region IV) and the Spartanburg Opportunity Center in a donation drive for the homeless in our community.

The drive will be held on Tuesday, March 15th, at the Spartanburg Opportunity Center (701 Saxon Ave, Spartanburg, SC 29301), from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The Spartanburg Opportunity Center says they are in need of the following items:

  • Razors
  • Combs/brushes
  • New underwear
  • Backpacks
  • Reading glasses
  • Toenail/fingernail clippers
  • Liquid laundry detergent pods
  • Dryer sheets
  • Over-the-counter meds (ex: Tylenol, Benadryl, Pepto Bismol, etc.)
  • Bottled water
  • Small (travel size) deodorants
  • Wash cloths/towels
  • Socks
  • Blankets
  • Sleeping bags
  • Men's jeans (size 30-34)
  • Ponchos
The Spartanburg Opportunity Center says they are in desperate need of new underwear--specifically, men's size small and medium, but women's underwear will be appreciated, too.

If you can't make it to the donation drive on Tuesday, March 15th, our Parks Department will be accepting donations until Monday, March 14th, at all of our community centers (Timken, TW Edwards, Woodruff, Chesnee, Cleveland Park, and Lake Cooley).
