Spartanburg Area Chamber of Commerce: Bella Vision Breaks Ground on New Office Space

9

Spartanburg Area Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on January 31.

Bella Vision is breaking ground on a brand-new office space for family vision care, currently set to open this fall. A groundbreaking ceremony at the practice’s new site, located at 142 Fernwood Dr., was held Thursday, marking a new chapter for ophthalmic services in Spartanburg and the surrounding communities.

The expansion follows a decade of planning and steady growth at Bella Vision’s original and current location at Hillcrest Specialty Row.

“Back in 2012, when I started planning to open our current office, I never could have imagined there would be a need for expansion,” said Bella Vision Owner Dr. Janet Wilson. “However, the demands for the specialized services and advanced treatment options Bella Vision offers are greater than ever, and a growing number of people are looking for independent eyewear options.”

The spacious new 7,000 square foot office is conveniently located less than half a mile from Bella Vision’s current location but at five times the space. Set to incorporate some of the newest technology and modern features, plans include five exam rooms, specialized testing and contact lens fitting areas, dry eye treatment rooms and 1,500 square feet devoted solely to the practice’s burgeoning optometric vision therapy program.

A highlight of the new location will be an upgraded luxury boutique optical featuring top-selling independent eyewear lines such as Barton Perreira, Etnia Barcelona, WOOW, OVVO, Silhouette, Randolph and Maui Jim, as well as some new frame lines set to debut after opening. The opportunity for expansion couldn’t come at a better time, Dr. Wilson said.

Adults and children alike are realizing the compounding effects of increased screen time for the “new normals” of virtual meetings and elearning. In particular, Dr. Wilson noted an accelerated progression of myopia (nearsightedness) and dry eye disease. High demand for care has resulted in wait lists for vision performance evaluations, vision therapy programs and IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) therapy.

“Whether it is someone coming for their annual comprehensive eye exam or contact lens evaluation, or something more specific, like a concussion patient referred to us to help rehabilitate their visual system so they can return safely to work, or a child struggling academically in school, patients with a wide variety of needs are seeking out our help,” Dr. Wilson said. “Our new practice location will provide us all with the physical space needed to help as many of these patients as possible.”

Local companies Creative Builders and PSI Design have been hired to lead construction and architecture on the project, which is financed through Pinnacle Financial Partners. Barbara Wright Designs is directing optical design. Once open, the new location’s spacious design and unparalleled features will better allow the Bella Vision team to serve not only a growing patient base in Spartanburg, but surrounding communities across the Carolinas.

“As economic development brings more people to our community, the greater Spartanburg area deserves to have a practice like Bella Vision that offers specialized services and products and advanced treatment options,” Dr. Wilson said. “Yes, our physical space is growing, but our mission to provide our patients with exceptional eye care and a luxury optical experience remains unchanged.”
