Wofford’s Brianna Stanley was named the Southern Conference Player of the Week, according to an announcement by the league office on April 13. The weekly softball awards are selected by the conference.
The recognition highlights Stanley’s consistent performance and contributions to her team. Head coach Chelsea Butler said, “Bri has continued to show up for us in the biggest ways with so much consistency. She works so hard at her craft, and we are so excited to see her be recognized by the SoCon for her efforts at the plate last week!”
This marks Stanley’s third Player of the Week honor this season and is also a record for Wofford, as she becomes the first player in program history to win this award three times in a single season. It is also the fourth time a Wofford player has received such recognition this year.
Stanley, who plays as a sophomore infielder from Boiling Springs, South Carolina, achieved a .714 batting average across three games against UNCG over the past weekend. Her performance included a double, a home run, four runs batted in (RBI), and two intentional walks. In game two on Saturday afternoon, she went 2-for-3 with both extra-base hits and two RBI.
Stanley hit her tenth home run of this season during these games—setting a new single-season record for Wofford softball—and now has 17 career home runs, another program best. She currently ranks second in the conference with 48 RBI this year.
Looking ahead, Wofford will play USC Upstate on Wednesday, April 15 at 6:00 p.m., with live streaming available on ESPN+ and Nexstar CW62. The team will then continue its road schedule with a series at ETSU from April 18-19.
