Wofford junior right-handed pitcher Alec Bouchard was named Southern Conference Pitcher of the Week for games played from April 7 to April 12, according to an announcement by the conference office on April 13. The weekly honors are selected by the league office.
This recognition highlights Bouchard’s performance and consistency throughout the season. His achievement also marks Wofford’s first back-to-back SoCon weekly honors this year, following Ben Timblin’s player of the week award last Monday.
Head coach J.J. Edwards said, “I’m really proud of the consistency Alec has brought this year. He’s been nothing but great week in and week out. We’re very happy for him to be recognized for his phenomenal work this past week.”
Bouchard earned his first career pitcher of the week honor after starting in Wofford’s series opener against The Citadel last Friday, where he pitched seven innings with a career-high 12 strikeouts—the most by a Wofford pitcher since Zac Cowan recorded 14 strikeouts against Mercer on April 19, 2024. In that game, Bouchard allowed only five hits and one walk as Wofford secured a 2-0 victory.
The Soddy Daisy, Tennessee native currently holds a 6-2 record, leading both the Southern Conference and ranking thirteenth nationally with six wins. He is also first in the conference with 61 strikeouts and maintains a season-best earned run average (ERA) of 1.64 over 49.1 innings pitched.
Looking ahead, Wofford will return to Russell C. King Field on Tuesday, April 14 to play Presbyterian College at 5:30 p.m., with coverage available on ESPN+.
